A Healthy Way to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

This recipe was such a big hit on our Facebook Live on St. Patrick's Day last year! We had so much fun with the recipe's creator, Xonna Clark, LDN who focuses her practice on using food to help heal inflammation in the body. This smoothie recipe is perfect for that! The five simple ingredients in this smoothie are:

Pineapple: Refreshing and delicious, this fruit contains bromelain which is great for digestion. Pineapples are also high in vitamin C and manganese, as well as being antioxidant rich.

Cucumber: Filled with water, cucumbers are great for hydration. Being hydrated helps both decrease inflammation and boost energy.

Green apple: Green apples are low-glycemic, making them a better option for sustained energy while still being delicious and sweet. Green apples are high in fiber and help detoxify the liver.

Spinach: High in vitamin A and C, spinach is also a good source of iron. Plus, it is also high in antioxidants linked to anti-inflammation benefits as well as vital minerals.

Lime: High in vitamin C and antioxidants. They help boost the immune system, alleviate inflammation, increase iron absorption, and promote healthy skin.

Green Pineapple Smoothie Recipe

Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

  • 3/4 cup water / coconut water / nut milk
  • 1/2 green apple (peeled and chopped)
  • 1/4 cucumber (chopped)

Recipe Notes

This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately. You can easily substitute kale for spinach. If you like a thicker smoothie, add some ice cubes.
